Include your Sonalet version, macOS version, Mac model and a short description of what happened. For transcription issues, include the selected language and whether you used Auto-detect.

Please leave private recordings, transcripts, payment details and passwords out of your first message. A short fictional example is usually enough to start.

Recordings and permissions

Choose a microphone, Mac audio or one application as your source. Set a source to Off when you do not want it recorded. Input and Output identify audio sources; they do not identify individual people speaking on one source.

If a source is silent, check that the selected device or application is playing audio. In System Settings → Privacy & Security, review Sonalet's microphone, audio-recording and speech-recognition permissions as needed. Names vary with your macOS version. Protected applications may prevent capture.

Free recordings stop after 10 minutes. They include the same available transcription and translation features as longer Pro recordings. Existing saved recordings remain accessible if Pro expires.

Transcription and English translation

Sonalet requires macOS 14.2 or later. Auto-detect and English translation require Apple silicon and separate model downloads in Settings. Allow approximately 626 MB for Auto-detect and 947 MB for English translation, plus working space.

Finish model setup before recording. Choose Auto-detect for multilingual transcription and enable English translation to show live English captions in a separate window. You can pin or dock that window. After stopping, Sonalet processes the complete recording and saves a final English translation.

Auto-detect and English translation run on your Mac after setup. Other transcription language modes use Apple's speech-recognition services and may need a network connection. Accuracy depends on language, speech and recording quality; check important text against the audio.

A recording can continue while earlier recordings finish processing. Check their progress in the recording library, and use the retry option if processing fails.

Purchases, trials and restoring access

Choose Remove recording limit to see the monthly, yearly and one-time options. All three unlock the same recording access. Local prices and billing terms appear in the app before purchase.

Eligible new subscribers receive a seven-day trial. Trial eligibility is shared between the monthly and yearly plans. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled; the one-time licence has no recurring payment.

To restore access, sign in to the App Store with the Apple Account used for the purchase, then choose Restore Purchases on Sonalet's purchase screen. If you already have Pro, that screen is hidden.

Manage or cancel an Apple subscription. For refunds, follow Apple's refund process; eligibility is determined by Apple.

Your recordings and privacy

Recordings and generated text are stored locally. Use the app's reveal and export controls to find or save files. Deleting a recording moves its folder to the Mac's Trash; exported copies and backups are managed separately.

Optional downloaded models can be removed in Settings without deleting your recording library.
